1. Over three quarters of the membership fee is paid to the BMC for insurance. The rest goes into a fund which we use to pay for accommodation. As we need to pay for accommodation in advance, you do, too.

  2. For a UK meet, the full cost of the accommodation needs to be forwarded to the treasurer at least a week before the meet. For meets outside of the UK, we require a £50 deposit to secure a place. Because non-UK meets take a lot of organising, the deposit will need to be paid well in advance. The deadline for such deposits will be on the meets list (see below). Booking early also ensures that members can get the best possible deals on air fares.

  3. While individual members are responsible for getting themselves to a meet, the meets organiser is always happy to try and co-ordinate car sharing or arrange for someone to meet members at bus/train stations.

Booking a meet

To book your place on a meet, please do the following:

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel a meet that you have already booked, please inform the club as soon as you know you can't come. You should do this by speaking in person to whoever is responsible for that meet, or by texting them.

As a general principle the club will try to give a refund or credit where possible, but this is not guaranteed. Each case will be considered individually, taking account of the time of cancellation and any financial loss the club may make as a result.

How do we decide where the meets are going to be

Where we go is a joint decision of the membership, made at the AGM in March every year.

The official, up-to-date meets list will be posted on the web site sometime in April every year.

If you want to suggest a venue for a meet, then either come to the AGM or send your ideas to the club secretary before the meeting.

If you want to organise an “unofficial” meet during the year, please contact the Newsletter Editor who will email the rest of the membership with the details. You could also post it on Facebook, but do let the Newsletter editor know.

Membership and insurance

We are quite happy for potential members to come to one or two meets before they commit to joining the club. Please note, if you are not a member, you are NOT covered by our insurance.

Can I bring family and friends to a meet?

Members are welcome to bring along family and friends as guests. If you bring children however, you are responsible for them and their safety.
